Most rejections happen before anyone reads the statement.
- Missing a mandatory document. The most common single cause.
- Ignoring the word limit. Some portals truncate silently.
- A statement written for a different scheme.
- Eligibility misread - residency, age or enrolment status.
- Referee email bounced and nobody checked.
- File format rejected, usually a .pages or .heic upload.
A five-minute check before submitting
- Reread the eligibility list line by line.
- Open every uploaded file from the portal after upload.
- Confirm the referee received the request.
